Pleased to be endorsed by the Sierra Club
Years ago, I thought that the Sierra Club was just a hiking club. It is so much more! It's the oldest, largest, and most influential environmental group in the USA! When we discovered that Merrimack's water was contaminated with PFAS, the Sierra Club jumped in and helped us!

Key actions to help Merrimack included:
Challenged State Air Permits: The Sierra club worked with local residents (Like water warriors Wendy Thomas, Nancy Murphy and Rosemarie Rung) to raise formal objections against the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) when it tried to approve air emissions permits allowing facilities to continue releasing toxic PFAS chemicals without strict caps on newer-generation compounds. [1]
Partnered with Local Coalitions: Worked alongside grassroots groups like Merrimack Citizens for Clean Water (led by Goldman Prize winner and Merrimack resident Laurene Allen) to amplify community demands for transparent data, real-time air monitoring, and comprehensive cleanup. [1, 2]
Pushed for Corporate & Government Accountability: Demanded that industrial polluters and federal/state agencies fund complete environmental remediation, close reporting loopholes, and phase out the production of "forever chemicals". [1]
These are just a few of the things that the Sierra Club has done to protect NH air and water. I've testified on several occasions both at the State House and in DES hearings about why St. Gobain (the company that polluted our water with PFAS) should not have their licenses extended. St. Gobain has left Merrimack, but they left a polluted mess that remains a concern for us.
